Beautiful (metallic green with bronze wing-covers) beetles that feed on more than 400 species of broad-leaved plants. The adults eat the tissue between the leaf veins, leaving attacked leaves with a lace-like appearance (also eat buds and fruit of favorite plants, as well as overripe/decaying fruit). Larvae feed on roots of turf/lawn plants. Adult beetles emerge from the soil about the last week of June and are most active from mid-July through August.
Japanese Beetles are most active between the months of June and August.
